zed

zed is quickly becoming my favorite code editor.

vscode has been my go-to ever since leaving neovim many years ago. I really put a lot of work into configuring my keybinds and settings. However, recently the electron bloat has started to really wear on me. Previously, when I had these concerns, I'd brush them off because the amount of effort required to migrate to zed or back to neovim would be way too much to justify. But thanks to codex and claude, it has become pretty trivial to get my workflow exactly how I had it in vscode, and even iterate on it quickly.

there is something pretty addictive about feeling like navigating around panes or through files is annoying for x, y, or z reason, and just being able to say aloud how I'd like it to work instead. About 10 seconds later, the settings change has propagated and hot reloaded, and I can immediately tell if it improved my experience.
